The Art of the Nerd Goblin

Iris

I loved every second of creating Iris, she is my Springtime morning Goddess. Her colours make my heart happy.

Hydref

Here is my Goddess of Autumn, she’s in my mind, both warm and a little chilly and I feel she’s simply beautiful. My favourite season with a playful dance of leaves around her.

Haf

Haf is a concept of paintings I’m working on continuously. She’s in my Goddess range and is my Goddess of summer. Haf is welsh for summer in fact! I imagined the sea and beach and warmth when painting her. She’s available as an original and a print!

When the Stars Fall

I painted this image following the sad news that my father in-law wasn’t responding to chemo and there was nothing left to do, but to make him comfortable. It really did feel like the stars had fallen from the sky.

Tylwyth Teg

I’m incredibly proud of this original painting, in Welsh the name is used for fairy folk. I loved the idea of her having horns and angel like wings with a bit of a twist. She’s also the biggest painting I have created to date at 30×20 inches.

The original has sold but I hope to add some prints soon.

Morrigan

Morrigan is the Goddess of war and usually depicted with a raven or as a raven. I’ve loved creating an original from her myth and as I love ravens so much, this was an utter joy to create!

Gwanwyn

is my Goddess of Spring, she’s based on the idea of a Cherry Tree and was amazing fun to create.

Rhiannon

Rhiannon, is the Welsh goddess of horses, forgiveness, rebirth, the moon, and fertility.

Sometimes (nearly all the time) things get nerdy…

The Farmyard Cinema Society collection…

I created these little illustrations due to my love of movies (although I will include TV also). It happened by accident. I was painting some illustrations of geese wearing winter hats for some Christmas cards, and I just thought if I popped helmets on them one could be saying to the other ‘Talk to me Goose’. This thought entertained me so much that I had to make it and then other ideas started entering my mind even friends and family have suggested ideas for the society, which I have noted down…

Fantasy/ Magical/ Whimsical

I do have a pretty colourful imagination and I love the idea of animals and fairies existing within our world and dragons being as small as snails and that when we’re not looking, ducks wear yellow hats on very rainy days and teddy bears protect us with swords when we’re scared…

Archimedes

Though he is little, he is fierce. I adore his little face and I chuckled to myself as his little character emerged. He’s one of the first magical animals I painted and although the original sold long ago, I do have prints in my shop.

The Priders

These spiders know how to celebrate LGBTQ+ These were inspired due to one of my fantastic four being both gay and non-binary and I also have two transgender nieces. I wanted to create something fun and different so along came the Priders.

Due to the volume of stock I have regarding these AMAZING Priders I will for the time being leaving them in my NuMondays store. Please click the tab to be taken directly to my store.

Sculpting…

The most recent sculpt that I created was Audrey II from the awesome movie ‘The Little Shop of Horrors’. Slightly bigger than my previous makes but still small.

I LOVED working out how to create this fantastic character and was incredibly pleased that my first attempt turned out so well, and fun!

I am making more and am happy to make any as a commission. This is subject to an upfront payment and the understanding as they’re made by hand that you can expect around a 2 weeks wait from payment of deposit and full payment required before being posted.

Creating the little blue worm from The Labyrinth was a must…

I started by using thick wire which I then wrapped in foil to create the shape I was happy with.

I then used sculpty premo clay and acrylic heavy body paints and finished with a varnish seal.

I had wanted to have a go at sculpting for a long time, after painting the Lil’ Boos I thought it would be awesome to make little versions that would be stored in a jar like pet ghosts.

I wanted them to look individual and like the the painted versions I had done.

I really enjoyed learning how to accomplish this!

There are only four left in my store.

It was really interesting working out how I would paint the worm, and of course add on the feathers that he apparently has, which I felt was more the challenge of this piece.

Following the creation of the Lil’ Boos I wanted to try creating something else so I had a think and decided that it would be great fun to make little Sand Worms from one of my favourite movies - BeetleJuice!

I figured it was best to sculpt the inner worm first then build the main one around that. I really loved this challenge and decided they would look wonderful in little bell jars that can also be used as a hanging decoration. There is currently one Sand Worm left in my store.

I decided that Audrey II would look amazing in a bauble so I made a tiny version which sits perfectly inside a 3 inch bauble. I’m looking forward to creating more of these and other nerdy makes which are both original and unique!

The Labyrinth Worm is available as a commission. This is subject to an upfront payment and the understanding as they’re made by hand that you can expect around a 2 weeks wait from payment of deposit and full payment required before being posted.

Creating wooden wall Hangings…

I really enjoy painting on wooden slices, the sizes vary, just as the texture of the wood.

Painting on wooden slices gives people another way of displaying art and it’s different and interesting, especially with the added extra of beads, drift would, bells and keys.

What’s wonderful is each piece is a one of a kind making them original and very unique.

All are painted with heavy body acrylics and sealed with a glossy varnish finish.

Check them out in my store.
